Sally Mair - Loving life

A girl's best friend

Another cold morning today, but I didn't have to be up and out early thank goodness. When I did get up I popped down to Katy's to drop off a couple of things including a lasagne. Nice to see her on her own from time to time.
Eilidh has been at Lagganlia, a residential outdoors centre up near Kingussie, with school all week. I was there in 6th year of secondary in 1971, not long before the Ainsle Park disaster. They haven't heard from Eilidh directly, they're too young to have phones, mostly, but there has been a daily bulletin from the school. It's been cold but they were prepared. They've been kayaking, gorge walking, scrambling, all sorts and having a great time. Cold is manageable, rain on an outdoor week is awful.
I came home in time for a quick lunch before getting the bus into town for the first annual check up after my implants were put in last year. The dentist was very happy that I was taking sufficient care and that the xRays showed no boneloss - one does learn new things every day!
I've been preparing things for the Polwarth baby and children's sale which is on Saturday. I said I would help so I will be there tomorrow afternoon to set up as well as on Saturday for the sale.
Amy , if you are around do come and say hallo. This is a huge sale of baby stuff including toys and clothes as well as other equipment and it's very well organised by a local group of mums.
Sellers buy tickets in advance with which they price their goods , goods are then brought to the sale and put into the various sections the day before, ready to be sold. Unsold goods are taken away again afterwards on the day of the sale.
The money is taken centrally, proceeds are sent out to sellers a couple of weeks later with a percentage of the price given to charity. It's always very popular and goods are priced to sell. The weather hopefully won't interfere too much on Saturday.
My blip was spotted while I was waiting for bus. My jaw dropped when I saw the price ticket. I have to say I didn't feel even slightly tempted - I couldn't afford it but I don't think I even want it!
