Windswept?

My entry this week for Ingeborg's Abstract Thursday Challenge AT491 on the theme of 'Monochrome'.

I have added an 'extra' of the original image that I used to create the main blip.

[EDIT (Friday)]

I was asked by Kwtracey how I achieved this so I am outlining the main stages here for all to see.

I opened the image in GIMP.
I cropped the image to a square format.
I used curves to falsely lighten the deepest blacks by fixing a number of anchor points along the default diagonal and then pushd one from near the bottom of the slope right up to near the top.
I added a new layer of uniform colour that I then used to colour my image using one of the blend modes.
(This intermedate state is my second 'extra' for this blip.)
Next, the resultant image was duplicated to a new layer and flipped horizontally.  The layers were adjusted so the trees did not overlap and space was visible between them.
I set the combine mode (in GIMP) to 'Grain Extract' - - - I don't believe that is an option in Photoshop :-((
I chose Filter/Distorts/PolarCoordinates and applied it in reverse mode (i.e. 'From Polar' rather than 'To Polar') and with an offset of 180 degrees.
I chopped the image in half vertically and discarded the right-hand half.
I rotated what remained 90 degrees anticlockwise.
I converted to monochrome.
Finally, a few crops and tweaks to 'curves' and scaled the image to ratio 2:1.
