The Other Side
John worked at his newly cleaned desk, now covered with more piles of paper but in fairness he is working on clearing the file cabinets underneath it. A long conversation about admin and finances ensued. It was a good opportunity to get on board with how he organizes things. I've always let him get on with all of that on his own but the time has come when it's more of a two person job.
While he was doing that, I was turning my work table into a bit of a disaster. It's been worse and various parts of the operation do occupy other parts of the room. No hand weights will be used in the making of a quilted jacket....
All three of us have been stuck in the house for two days as there is torrential rain and we are advised not to use the roads if we don't have to. Spike doesn't really like the rain (and he really doesn't like the wind) so even he has to be coerced outside for essential functions. I haven't set foot out the door. We had four inches (10.16cm) of rain yesterday alone, and I think it rained even harder today. Water was blowing off the edge of the roof in a virtual cloud of spray. The fire garden walkway was a lake when I looked out, but our resident flock of turkeys were pecking away at the ground on the other side of the fence as usual.
There has been flooding and trees down in other parts of town, but our quiet little street seems to be holding its own without major problems. Cindy sent a picture of Hazel the basset hound asleep on her back. John took advantage of a brief lessening in the rain to go out to the pump house and turn off the irrigation system!
I have been thinking about going to the fabric store to buy the main fabric for my coat project but have made do with some scraps I already have, making 'sawtooth stars' (a classic quilt design) in various colors. It's not enough for the whole coat so I hope that they still have it at the store when I get there. Maybe tomorrow.
