Had a fantastic conversation this afternoon that included mining in sub-Saharan Africa and electrification with someone who has helped mines with their social programs.

Wonderful evening with a friend tonight.

Totally makes up for the very boring meeting that lasted all morning. You can make a boring meeting worse with poor sound quality.

Russia used an intercontinental ballistic missile on Ukraine. The Russian ministry of foreign affairs was commenting at a press briefing on it when she got a call from a male voice, in the middle of it, ordering her to shut up.

Ukraine has now used ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles to hit targets in Russia. On Wednesday they used the British Storm Shadow missiles for the first time. 

Oh wow. This included a strike on a Putin estate. They struck it before in October and the building was damaged by a shock wave or, as a Ukrainian representative wrote on Facebook, “a strong storm passed through the Kursk region.” North Korean commanders may have been inside when hit. 

In May 2020 Putin signed a decree banning soldiers from carrying smartphones. Soldiers still do, allowing Ukraine to tap into them and determine morale. “Mom, this war is the stupidest decision our government ever made, I think”

Russia purged a military unit after its commanders were caught lying about successes. If you aren’t safe telling the truth, and if your superiors rarely go to the field themselves, you have a situation ripe with potential for deception. Russian military bloggers say they were boasting about capturing villages that don’t even exist.
