A cold walk at Ashton Court

With my friend C - our sons were close friends in primary school, and we used to help each other after school, L went to her one Wednesday, and her son A came to us the next one.
It was grey with a few flecks of snow when we started out.  The trees are of course wonderful, the full range from completely bare now, to most of the leaves still on. There was a beech we passed, and as the leaves blew off, they looked like golden birds flying horizontally in the wind.
The pics above are shown chronologically as they were taken.  It was lovely to see so many deer near the path - I imagine they’re getting extra rations now, so are grouping together over on the side where we can see them. The red oak leaves caught my eye, as did the pink roses in the rose garden near the house. An amazing picture in June, but not too bad in November either.
Happily there is a very nice cafe to retreat to and warm up, and we shared a huge slice of carrot cake:) By the time we left it was quite sunny, though still very cold.
Back at home - I shovelled bird food outside.  Suddenly it seems serious and I have lots of extra birds. Black caps and dunnocks, also blackbirds are coming regularly now for food on the ground. Though I notice they have also learned to use the feeders in the apple tree. A nice treat later in the afternoon, a visit to the chiropodist. Nice to have happy feet.
