Resident Fauna...
My neighbourhood is "Home Sweet Home" to a variety of lovable and not-so-lovable creatures...raccoons, rabbits, mice, coyotes, and squirrels...
Squirrels fascinate me and I have spent hours watching them; they are SO clever....I have seen their little puzzled faces light up when they have finally figured out how to get into that new "squirrel-proof" bird feeder...or have seen a newbie squirrel seemingly defeated in his amateur attempt to find a route to reach a hanging feeder..only to see him come back later and try a new technique he has thought up! Never say die! They are persistent and usually win out in the end!
They are great entertainers, not just for me, but for Maggie too. Maggie has her squirrel-watching ritual of the day; right after breakfast, she heads for the patio door, which I open and she sits there, behind the screen of course, watching them hanging out on the deck, waiting patiently lest I throw them some stale bread or maybe some sunflower seeds that will save them the trouble of raiding the feeders...Maggie is amused.
There is never a time of day when there is not a squirrel puttering about somewhere out there, so today, in need of a blip, I took advantage of that. It had been an uneventful day as I was feeling really tired and lethargic..with little energy to do anything productive; hence no blip and the light of day was dimming...so..a quick shot out of the front window and voila! A blip.
Squirrels do serve a purpose....
