Escapism
My day started early. A Facetime call, from Mum. Sitting on the floor by her bed.
A call to my niece who lives in the attic room brought immediate help. Mum seemed as ok as we might wish after a fall but getting help eventually led to a hospital admission for assessment in a frailty unit. It's Friday, so she'll be there until early next week. Tests and care. Not in immediate danger.
Most of my day has been filled with relaying messages or sending them. My niece has been an absolute star. Calm beyond her years. My sister, who was always going to travel today, arrived mid afternoon and will be there for a while. Family pulling together.
In the midst of the morning activity I got Jamie to the station, he's off to see Clara. There's also been food and a few chores done. We've had a video sent by the contractors of Ruth's new kitchen which is really taking shape. Good news.
I offered to be at pottery to receive a delivery of bottled gas for our heaters, a chance for a few minutes distraction. Some of my pots are waiting to be glazed. Sometimes we all need somewhere to escape to.
