A Walk at the Arboretum
A day late posting -
Turns out MrWK didn't quite finish up the job he was working on today and had to spend another night in Portland so he could finish up tomorrow (Saturday). I got completely distracted by his dinner invitation - we went to a really fun restaurant not too far from my house and they had live rock and roll at 9:00 pm....so fun!
Meanwhile, I went for a walk with my friend Phil at the Arboretum today. Since I'd taken the Living Fossils walking tour, along with the Common Mushrooms class there, we had a lot to look at while we were walking around! Always a delight to see him - we've been friends for almost 20 years now. He was one of the first people I met when I moved to Portland. He taught at my former school and lived not far from me in SE Portland. We saw lots of fungi, including these which were growing on an old log. I believe they're Hypholoma fasciculare or Sulfur Turf mushrooms - one of the more common mushrooms in the Pacific NW. It's intensely bitter tasting which renders it inedible, which is good since it's toxic.
