A weird cocktail
We had a lovely evening with our kind friends. Carol had recently been in Sicily and bought some interesting bottles back with which to experiment cocktail-wise. I’ve sampled lots of Italian drinks over the years and find the herbal infusions rather medicinal in flavour. The one on the left was used for her cocktail. It tasted a bit Aperol spritz. In fact the mixer was - lager! (You might not be surprised to learn I declined a top up).
She had bought a case of a Vognier that a TV chef show had recommended which we were having with supper. I found it totally tasteless and watery so was relieved when she said she was going to put it away and we’d try a red they’d brought back from a wine tasting in California. It was absolutely delicious. Most Californian reds available here that we’ve had are not great. (I expect they keep the good stuff!) but this was delicious, from a small vineyard that doesn’t export. We did appreciate it.
We had a really jolly time. My diary is filling up nicely. I told them about Northern Sinfonia playing in Alnwick so we booked 4 tickets. I’m still undecided about the Kinney-Masons at the Boiler Shop because of standing room only.
I am up to August in the year book.
Mr C had a short walk but finds his back is sore when he sits. So far he has made no inroads into my list of jobs - compiled purely to help his back of course. Thank you all for your kind thoughts.
