A Little Research
The walking and peak bagging I achieved last week has renewed my interest in trying to complete all of the 214 Wainwright fells. I know time is ticking, I'll be 65 next year, but I've bought a couple of books which claim to provide the most efficient routes to reach each of the fells in as little as 36 walks.
I tried using the one book in the past, but was a little perturbed that the author suggested routes that went over private land, with no discernible paths that allowed access. As a result I've bought a new book called "Peak Bagging Wainwrights" by Karen and Dan Parker. They also provide a link to download the routes to popular digital mapping apps and I'm currently working through the routes while the rain continues to lash down.
It doesn't help that I live three hours from the Lakes, but at least I already have 60 fells ticked off after my efforts of the last few years. It's probable I will have to retrace my steps in some cases but it would be lovely to think I could complete it before my fell walking days are behind me.
