Trail
My attempt to get to Dunham Massey for a short walk mid morning was confounded by a deep pool of water on the road, underneath a canal bridge. A car had foundered in the pool, been dragged out by the AA, and a nearby lorry with pumping equipment was presumably going to attempt to pump the water off the road. I got out of my car to assess the situation. A van drove through the pool from the other side, to the consternation of those in high-vis jackets, the chap inside wound down his window as he passed me and said very loudly “there isn’t a problem mate”. I chatted to the driver behind me, he said he was going through as well, it was the driver’s fault for going through too fast.
I decided there was no point in macho antics and turned around. Half a mile on I turned off the road to reach the Trans-Pennine trail and a little car park. From there I had a pleasant walk.
The image features the trail, silver birch trees (which always look attractive in winter), and a large mixed flock of starlings, fieldfare and redwings which were moving off as the two cyclists approached. The Trail extends from Southport/Liverpool on the west coast of England, to Hull/Hornsea on the east coast. The theme of today’s mono Monday is “cherish”, and for me there’s a lot to cherish here.
