Virginia Beach Vacation …

… Day 3.

We had another great day in paradise … and a lovely visit with my brother! Here are the details …

We started the day by going back to First Landing Park to spend more time than last night for the sunset.  There are lots of walking trails here plus Cape Henry … which has two lighthouses.  The lighthouses are on government property (Fort Story) so you have to go through a security office and then take a shuttle out to the lighthouses.  We opted not to actually go inside the old lighthouse as there were too many stairs.

Instead we walked out on the one boardwalk that is available to the public.  From here you can see the ocean.  And we saw the Aircraft Carrier in the Extras.  Very cool.

When we knew that we were going to be vacationing here I had gotten in touch with my brother (Dave) who lives in North Carolina.  His house is about 3+ hours from Virginia Beach so we made arrangements to drive there for one night.  We left VB around 2ish after spending a little time sitting on the beach … this was when I took the picture of the young girl playing in the surf.

We arrived at my brother’s shortly after 5pm.  And proceeded to have a wonderful time with him and his family.  He treated us to a delicious dinner at a local steakhouse.  Followed by a lovely visit at their house.  

Sadly, our visit was a short one as we will return to Virginia Beach tomorrow.
