One for a wish...
I wish I knew what it was eating!
The magpie is a conflicting bird... I have mixed emotions... I have a strong love of the clever corvid genus, and the magpie is a beautiful bird to look at. Highly predatory, though, and a call that grates on the ear. Not even as 'pleasant' as a crow.
This one was ripping chunks off something in the top of the hedge at the rear of the garden. The hedge is an all-sorts mixture and what you can see here is mostly died back clematis. I think it was ripping off bark, perhaps to get at insects? Who knows.
This morning I took all the cardboard from the kitchen delivery down to the recycling centre. Bless them, they don't like cardboard boxes (I had already flattened all mine) and they insist that you post the cardboard through the smallest letterbox gap six feet off the ground. Took ages.
France has just stated it believes the leader of a state accused of war crimes cannot be arrested because he is in office... perhaps riding on the nonsense coming from the US. Do you think that would have happened eighty years ago had Hitler not shot himself dead?
Like magpies, not everything is pure black and white.
