The Lights of London
Up to town for the day to meet my longest-standing BBC friend - we began work on the same day way back in 1977 when we were just teenagers. We started off having a wander and browse at Battersea Power Station shopping centre, then caught the Thames Clipper boat along to Bankside where we disembarked outside the Globe Theatre. We had booked an afternoon tea at the Swan at the Globe restaurant with a discount voucher, and were not disappointed. We had a table right next to the window with a great view across the river to St Paul’s (see Extras). The food was delicious and excellent value, with great service from all the staff. I would thoroughly recommend it as a venue for an enjoyable afternoon out. By the time we left, feeling pleasantly full, darkness had fallen and the bright lights of the city were shimmering across the Thames. I only had my phone to capture a blip of the scene, but it will do nicely for the W-I-D-E on Wednesday challenge theme of ‘Lights’. Many thanks to BobsBlips for hosting.
