Sunshine Over the Marshes
B, H, her husband M and I enjoyed an excellent talk about Otters at Norfolk Wildlife Trust at Cley this afternoon. One interesting fact that I didn’t know is that under the course hair of their coat is a soft dense undercoat, which the otter creates bubbles of air into by rolling around. This trapped air keeps them warm when they are underwater. A section of this fur the size of a human fingernail contains around 60,000 hairs!
We could do with some of that fur as our boiler has broken and needs a major new part which won’t be fitted until next week. At least the temperature is set to rise over the next few days.
It was a splendid afternoon, rounded off with a coffee and biscuits kindly bought by M. This is the view over the marshes from the cafe in the visitor’s Centre.
