“Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”
……. Is the very unusual name for this very colourful shrub. The flowers, when they first appear, are a rich, dark purple. By the next day or two they have faded to a pretty shade of lilac or mauve. At the final phase of their flowering the flowers become white with a hint of mauve. They are approximately four cms in diameter. The shrub, endemic to Brazil, is also known as “Brunfelsia pauiflora”, and has other common names such as “Morning Noon and Night” and “Purple Wreath-Vine” and the “Raintree Flower”. The shrub provides a splash of vibrant colour during spring and summer in my garden….
