Casa do Povo

The entrance of our local Social Security office, where we were attended to extremely well by João, from Granja. Handed in our S1 forms, which will eventually mean that Britain will pay any medical expenses we might incur here.

The building used to be a Casa do Povo (House of the People), where folk could come to watch telly, have dances, or watch films. Think how that would have strengthened community, as opposed to each on their own device nowadays.

Gratefuls:
- lovely walk into town in the sunshine, in T-shirts, way too warm for November, but pleasant
- watching the men installing the "ice rink" next to the main square, to be opened, along with the lights, on the 1st; grateful to be somewhere that waits for the right date to start celebrating
- trawling through ancient photos on my laptop, looking for a photo for Deb's sermon on Sunday, and realising what a rich life we have had
