Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

A first

For the first time in a very long time I've bought a Christmas cake rather than made one. Home made but not by me! I don't know when the last time that I didn't make one was. It's very plainly iced so I'll embellish it nearer the time. As it's alcohol free, and we prefer a moist cake, I've decided to risk feeding it through the base even though it's iced. If the icing gets stained, I can always add another layer! Fingers crossed.
I looked after Josie and Bonnie this morning, Josie came running into the house, arms wide open and calling "Grandma,  I've missed you!" .....what more could I ask for? We played with Duplo and read lots of stories, I've introduced her to Jill Murphy's Large Family books, she loved them.
Other than that - lots of admin, church planning for Christmas and many phone calls. I forgot to take any pictures which is why you are getting a very boring late night shot of the cake!
Tomorrow is the local area CHristmas Market which is based around our church grounds. I'm Carol Singing at 1.15 and helping to host a Live Music Now performance at 2.00 with two professional and extremely good Scottish fiddlers. There'll be lots of stalls, refreshments and other excitements throughout the afternoon culminating in the turning on of the Christmas Lights.
It's the last Friday of the month today, so the Art Quiz is here, a special Christmas edition. For the first time in a long time I got full marks.
