Advent Sunday

Heavy rain first thing this morning but fortunately it had given way to blue skies as the time came for me to walk up to church.

The Gala committee were busy erecting the village Christmas tree, which they provide each year, as I walked past. I took a picture of it from behind over the church wall just as the got it up.. It is the ‘switch on’ this evening and Chris will have to be there to actually switch on the power from inside the church. 

The first candle was lit on the Advent crown at the beginning of this mornings service, it is the one that represents the Patriarchs of the church, ie Abraham. 
You can see the new church Christmas tree lit up behind it. We had lovely advent hymns/carols but not my favourite ‘ O come I come Emanuel ‘ next week apparently which means I will miss it!

As Chris will be out early evening we are having our Sunday meal with our son at lunchtime instead of 6.00 pm so I’m posting early. Hope the rain stays away fir them this evening I’ll be staying in.
