Gaudi Day in Barcelona
Today we took the train to Barcelona. Annie and I always like to take the train on holiday at some stage, as it gives you a chance to see the world from a different (non-road) perspective. Going to somewhere like Barcelona, it also cuts out the driving and parking stress.
Barcelona was insanely hot. We took the metro after the trip on the mainline and popped up by Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's famous unfinished church.
After lunch we went to visit La Pedrera, described as the zenith of Gaudi's work. We took a trip to the rooftop where the architecture is both amazing and unique (and where today's blip comes from).
After some cooling drinks, we set off for the fabulous Park Güell using metro, foot and outdoor escalators! A really fascinating place full of unique art and architecture. Before the heat completely got the better of us and we headed home. Barcelona deserves more time but we will have to save that for another visit.
