Now we have everything

Leaving on a jet plane

I love how excited Charlie is in this picture. I was tempted to use this one from 4:30am this morning when we moved him from his bed straight to his car seat, but it's probably not the most flattering. It does crack me up though!

We gave ourselves plenty of time this morning to get to Luton and it was a good job as we needed all of it. The car park was a short shuttle ride away from the terminal, and I had to feed (and change and dress) Charlie after check in. Despite it generally taking longer than if it was just the two of us, it all went very smoothly. And so did the flight! Charlie was an absolute star.

One of my best purchases was something I picked up randomly while queuing in Primark- a squishy (not blow up) travel cushion. It was perfect for putting between the arm rest and Charlie's noggin whilst he fed. I made sure I fed him as we took off and landed to stop any ear-popping and subsequent crying. I really didn't want to be that family with the screaming kid, but instead he fed, slept, played and generally just chilled. The flight flew past which was a relief as I was worried about it being a little longer than I was planning for a first flight (4 hours).

The transfer from the airport to the hotel was a very short 20 minutes and we were the first drop off. The hotel itself made a great first impression. I was a little peeved at first because I'd emailed for a high floor and we took the lift down a level from the (very impressive) foyer but the room was huge for just the three of us and I saw we were still high up with a sea view. Someone had really thought it through for us too as we were on the same level as the restaurant and the pool which was perfect for the buggy.

We arrived at 2pm got straight into our beach gear and went to check out the pool. The weather was gorgeous. Hotter than home but with a lovely breeze off the sea which the hotel backed onto. Charlie was hungry so we held off going for a dip and went to chill in the room instead. I fed him and he went straight to sleep. Bless him, I think it was all a bit of a shock!

In the meantime we did the worst Brits abroad move. After seeing that dinner didn't start until 7pm and (mistakenly) thinking that the various bars in the hotel stopped serving lunch, Robin remembered seeing the golden arches down the other end of the promenade. It was one of the nicest burgers I've ever had. Plus we were all 'moved in' when he got back with the suitcases emptied and in the bottom of the wardrobe and everything in their new homes for the next week. I do that in every hotel room I stay in. I can't stand to live out of a suitcase.

We all had a little siesta (when in a Spanish-owned-Island!) then got ready for dinner and a walk to see what the Costa Adeje had to offer. The food at the hotel was lovely and it's fair to say I think we're going to like it here! Charlie was still tired so I put him to bed in the crib in our room, and we retired to the balcony to play cards (from a packet we had to buy here as I missed it off our 'to pack' list, shocking!) I also forgot Wabbit :( Thankfully Charlie hasn't noticed yet!
