Fairoak Valley

Misty conditions first thing so I headed towards Cannock Chase in the hope of getting some atmospheric images.  Frustratingly the strong mists dissipated quite quickly, though as you can see from this image, distant views still held some interest.

This view hasn't been seen for many years as there was a late plantation  of trees blocking any view down the valley and towards Rugeley, until very recently.  I noticed the spire of St Joseph and St Ethelreda Catholic Church in Rugeley just on the left of the scene in the far distance.  As I walked around the valley I came across other vistas that gave you a glimpse of the spire for the first time in many years.

Fairoak Pools have been allowed to drop levels in recent years, and I was able to walk down into the basin where previously I would have been two feet underwater.  The extra is of the lower pool and the small island.  The mist allows for a bit of separation of the island from the background.
