Departure
Backblip
I last flew in early 2019, I have never flown abroad on holiday without J, and I’ve never travelled abroad in late autumn or winter. So I am a bit trepidatious about this trip, and almost feel as if I’ve lost the knack of how to do it. However when dad passed away late September I decided I needed a pick me up at the end of what has turned out to be one hell of a year, and this is it.
So here I am at Gatwick airport, heading to gate 106 and a flight out to visit the first of two of the Canary Islands. I’ve never been, and perhaps unusually - I am going nowhere near a beach. I am telling myself to just embrace what comes.
My week away is full on, with no time for blipping. It will take me time to catch up.
