Sunrise

I started the day watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean, looking from the Parador garden at Santa Cruz de la Palma. Extra, the sun appearing over Tenerife.

The morning our group of twenty or so visited the newest volcano on La Palma - the 2021 eruption at Cumbre Viege (extra). The lava flows are still settling so access is restricted. La Palma is the newest of the big islands, two and a half million years ago a big super volcano emerged from the sea. It’s caldera - left after the volcano collapsed towards the sea - is impressive. Volcanic activity has not ceased since.
