Rapid Wren
Rapid wren is needle, rapid wren is pin - and wren's song
is sharp-song, briar-song, thorn-song,
Robert Macfarlane has put his finger on it in The Lost Words. These little birds are quite difficult to capture as they're so rapid. Their beaks are as sharp as needles or bramble thorns, ideal for wheedling insects out of crevices.
(Got me singing Needles and Pins )
