4 hour hike to Lopes Mendes

After our morning swim and 8 am breakfast we got ready to walk to Lopes Mendes - one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil - they say.

We left around 11 am - possibly a tad late.

It was a 3.5 hour walk over the hill through the jungle.

It was awesome but hard at times.
The path was ok but defo not the easiest walk.

We loved it though and enjoyed the nature and that we walked in the shadow.

We crossed Palmas - a gorgeous beach and came to Pousa from where we would get a boat home later.

It was almost 3 pm when we arrived there and found out that the last boat would be at 5 pm.

It was another 30 min hike to get to Lopes Mendes.

The beach is gorgeous.
Full on to the Atlantic and huge.

Beautiful white sand that squeaked when walking on.

We found a place to lay down and also went for some fun in the surf.

The waters were rather wild and a lot of rip tides.
So we did not go in too deep.

Then it was time to walk back to catch the last boat.

It was an ugly speedboat ride to Abraão.
It was rough and no fun.

When we arrived we were shattered and went directly into a beach cafe for a coffee and then a beer.

We then waddled to Steak N Beach and had two Caipirinhas and dinner.

I had the grilled Polvo for 2 and Neil helped me with the risotto.

Neil had steak - I think.

We then called for Marcos for our helicopter ride home to the Pousada.

We appreciate now that we have the slowest boat of the island!

At home we crashed pretty much immediately.

The picture is Palmas beach on the way to Lopes Mendes - actually more photogenic ...

More in the extras including Lopes Mendes and the enchanted jungle.
