Eight minutes
That's how long the temporary lights cycle goes on for before the pedestrians get their paltry 6 or seconds to cross. Yes, I could have crossed sooner, but I was early enough for work and had time to wait. I waited long enough for several people to tell me the bus stop was out of action, and there was no point waiting there. I was the only person who actually used that crossing point.
This is normally a very busy road, at the time of day I'm there - it's a bus routes interchange point, with the five ways roundabout (gas pipeline works going on on one section of the roundabout which is what's causing the temporary lights) to the left of the photo.
That eight minutes is also explaining why my evening buses are struggling even more than usual to keep to some semblance of the published timetable and have taken to travelling in 2s and 3s. I usually walk all the way (2.7 miles) to work, but often get the bus home - since these roadworks, I've been quicker walking home as well.
