Another blurry bird in my garden

And the continuing battle with the squirrel. After the squirrel made off with two of the suet filled coconuts- favourite of the tits and blackcaps, but especially the woodpecker- I ordered another squirrel baffle. It arrived, and I put it up to protect the coconut. What would happen? I was sad to see the woodpecker arrive, fly towards the coconut, only to swerve away at the last moment. He didn’t like the umbrella above him. All the other birds were perfectly happy and went to feed there straight away. Maybe woody watched them. After 24 hours I looked out, and here he is. He’s got very good hanging-on claws so it should be no problem for him. Just that he’s the most scaredy of all my visitors. The squirrel on the other hand, spent quite some time trying to figure out how to get to its favourite treat, and launched itself in various directions before giving up. I daresay this is not the end of it. He’ll probably gnaw off the whole branch the thing is hanging from.
