A Meandering Life...

A Shed Load More...

About 20 members came and went over the course of the day and I thought I'd Blip a selection of the things being made.

The main Blip is my latest creation. I had some time spare this afternoon so put it together. Not sure if I have the runny honey quite right but I'm pleased with the overall effect. Need to find somewhere to put it.

Extras (Please take a look):
Merry Christmas and Elephant puzzle was made by Chris who loves creating this sort of thing on a fret machine. It needs great skill to get all the cuts right and plenty of patience.

Bowl and Woodturning: Dave, our duty supervisor for the day, turned this shallow bowl this morning. The patterns in the grain are apparently made by fungus during the growth of the tree. Gordon seen on the lathe was teaching a new member how to turn.

Deer and Squirrel: Our treasurer, Peter, is making this bandsaw cut deer. What takes no time to make on the bandsaw will take hours to sand down. The cone squirrel was made by one of the ladies. Cecile has been making quite a few of these over the past week or so.

Glasswork: With a combined age of 171 years Roy and Barry have been making stained glass pieces for a few months now. Roy is currently making his second window to fit into his cottage whilst Barry likes to produce flowers that hang. The flower on the right is Barry's latest work.

Techno: Finally we have computer aided machines. Our chairman, David, is seen here upgrading our CNC router with new drive mechanisms. This machine uses a mounted router to cut into wood. We use it to create signs and cutouts. The latest machine we have in the Shed is a laser. Here you can see it is being used to make Men's Shed logos. This is a practice, it is hoped we will be able to put logos on bowls etc for selling.
