Cromer Christmas Tree Festival

I went to two great events today. This morning was the monthly talk at Holt Library and this one was by Mrs Temple, the owner of Mrs Temple's Cheese Company based at Wighton in North Norfolk. What a character! She told us briefly about her life in Africa with her husband, coming home to take over the loss making family farm, and turning it round by using the milk from the dairy herd for cheese making. They completely changed the business model, changed the herd of cows to more appropriate ones, changed the crops to support feeding the cows, added an anaerobic digester system to turn the cow waste, cheese making waste etc into electricity to run the business and sell to the village. She explained the cheese making process and the cheeses they produce and then we had a chance to taste the cheeses - I particularly liked the Walsingham one. All in one hour!

Then this afternoon I drove over to Cromer to have a look round the Christmas Tree Festival in the church. There are 40 christmas trees that have been decorated by local charities and groups and is there to support local charities through donations made. My collage is samples of three of my favourites - the top one is by Cromer Green Spaces (making room for nature in Cromer and supporting the bees); the middle is a 'Tinivity' by a local group called Darn It (meeting weekly in Cromer to share skills and fabric / craft stashes and provide emotional support to each other, they like to recycle and today they were raising money for Foodbank); and the bottom one is by Norfolk Knitters and Stichers (raising money for Cromer Christmas Lights).
