Mushroom Music

This morning I went to see the xmas display at Felbrigg called 'The Search for Red', Red being a fox. It's for children mainly, but there were lots of adults just enjoying the displays. I was intrigued by the room in my blip as they were playing 'Mushroom Music'. This was described as a collaboration between a Felbrigg gardener, the fungi on the estate, and an electronic synthesizer and is a new musical form called bio sonification. Sensors pick up the electrical impulses the fungi emit, which when passed to a synthesizer are translated to play musical notes within some rules set by the composer. Their description had the following:
- Amethyst Deceiver - 'twinkly' sounds
- False Deathcap - 'squelchy' sounds
- Sulphur Tuft - all other sounds. 
I thought it was all fascinating.
