Isolated...
I love taking shots like this where the subject is completely isolated on a neutral background. Usually I have to do a little work in post to get a background this clean, but today the elements were 100% in my favor. We got barely a dusting of snow, but it was perfectly clean where it fell on the patio. No footprints yet, no scattered seeds, no melted patches. And when I Dark-eyed Junco landed in that expanse of white, I fired. I little crop and then I darkened the bird just a bit so the feather detail would show more. Done. One more shot in Extra of one of the many Tufted Titmice who entertain us every day.
Jax is at day care today, playing with some of his dog friends. I took advantage of the day to do laundry, bake some keto brownies, run some errands, and spend some time in the hide (before the wind kicked up and tried to blow me away, hide and all). I also stuffed a week's worth of Kongs and they are in the freezer where they are doled out one per night. I stuff them with some soaked kibbles, cranberries and diluted canned pumpkin puree. Each one is topped with a freeze dried chicken foot (a great source of collagen and he loves them above all other treats). Hubs is totally grossed out by the feet and refuses to touch them.
The woman who is the Trial Secretary (boss) for the dog events emailed me last night raving about the pictures and even went so far as to say they were some of the best dog sports photos she's ever seen. I am guessing she may not have seen all that many professional dog sport photos but I'm still glowing. She also invited me to photograph the club's six events next year so I am checking the dates of the trials and plan to do all if possible.
Hubs and I are watching a series on Netflix right now about Ayrton Senna, a Brazilian F1 racer who is legendary. I have to say that the acting is not good, but the story of Senna's rise to F1 fame is really interesting. Sadly, he died at age 34 while driving in the San Marino Grand Prix.
Still haven't put the decorations on the tree - maybe tonight...
