Marjorie's ramblings

Too many health problems

I was on Margret’s ward at 0900 to be ready for the consultant’s ward round to be told a) no visitors before 1pm and b)there was no ward round today.

I did go in to take Margret some clean clothes and to do a manicure for her. She was due to see the Plastic Surgeon at 2pm so I went off to shop, then home for lunch before returning to the hospital.

She phoned to say that the appointment had been cancelled.

I walked through the village to post the charity knits at our post van. On my way back, an ambulance car came screeching into the village with the blue light flashing. Soon afterwards, a bigger ambulance came, also with the blue light and sirens going.

They had come to rest outside our pub. I hope that no one was seriously ill.

Then Maureen phoned to say that she is in the RVI having fractured her left femur in a fall yesterday. She had surgery today. The fall occurred in her care home but she was on the floor for 6 hours waiting for an ambulance. How painful and distressing for her.

Then it was a case of contacting friends. K and C can visit tomorrow so that is good. I don’t know if she will be transferred to Hexham General or straight back to the care home.

The day felt fractured.
