Celebrating the other Marjorie at 80
The other Marjorie invited 7 friends to Il Piccolo in Hexham for a celebratory lunch today. (The true date of her birthday has not been revealed, but she is 80 years young sometime soon.)
We had a square table in the Naughty Corner (sic) and enjoyed lovely main courses. I had penne with salmon. It was delicious. Instead of a dessert, Mary had arranged for us each to have a cupcake. These arrived with sparklers adorning them.
The cakes were light, fluffy and perfect.
When I came home, I dashed into the garden to cut some foliage ready for Sunday’s wreath making workshop, just in case tomorrow’s storm is severe.
Then there were various emails, WhatsApp messages and phone calls about Margret. She had a good physio session today.
Her new consultant apparently told her not to write to the DVLA because they will confiscate her driving licence. If you phone, they do not. I feel that something has been lost in translation, because stroke is one of the categories that has to be declared and there will be a tariff on when she can drive again, depending on a full recovery. It’s hard to think of a life without the car.
