Stillness
My weekly shop at Cockermouth, so I went via Lanthwaite woods at Crummock Water. On reaching the edge of the Lake, there were people with dogs, some open water swimmers (not in wet suits)! and plenty of ripples. I waited for them to finish, change (right in front of the camera, and depart. After another 15 minutes waiting (more dog walkers) I was alone at the edge of the lake. The wind dropped, and I managed this three-minute exposure with a 10-stop filter. That gives you some idea of how dark it was. The fact that the tree hardly moved throughout the three minutes did surprise me. And yes - I did deliberately position myself so the upturned end of the fallen branch fitted nicely into the inverted reflection of the valley.
