At the paint store

I’ve been trying to get a blip of the weir for ages. On  other side there is one of those roads where you can’t really stop, there’s no pavement, and lots of lorries. Only just discovered that on this side is the car park for the new location of Johnstones Paint. So at last I got a good view of it. In fact I had to visit twice.  I went to get more brilliant white emulsion - but also a couple of tester pots to choose a new colour for my front room.  Something between blue and turquoise I thought.  When I got them home, both colours were really horrible, and looked almost black on my test patches.  So I went back, wondering how I could have made such a bad choice, prepared to try again. Turns out the man had mixed them wrong, using a dark ‘base’. So he replaced them with the colours I had wanted originally, got home again, and both are very nice.  I’ll have to decide….
I wish I could post the sound of the weir, and the movement.  Roaring loudly, and flowing so fast, a real torrent.
The nephew of the window man, a very nice young person, came and put right all the faults.  Hooray.
At 7pm and again at 11.30 my phone made an ear splitting alarm sound which turned out to be a government red alert for the weather.  ‘Stay in and prepare a kit for power cuts’.  I did the former, but not really the latter.  I know where candles are if I need them.
Friday night film this week was ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’  - animation based on a Michael Morpurgo book. Beautifully made, and a good story.
