Yorkshire visit
The family, minus Grace, arrived before 11.00 last night so I was very relieved that they had not experienced any difficulties due to Storm Darragh, predicted to be at is worst in Wales and the Bristol Channel area but to be generally quite bad in the west.
The girls were in their Christmas PJs and were soon in bed but not before great cuddles and my being presented with this wonderful card made by Eda. Most schools do this now of course but I absolutely love Eda’s Reindeer with its long eyelashes!
Grace is, thankfully, on a train due into Leeds around 5.00 pm. She had an important audition in Bristol this morning but of course it ended up being cancelled but not until John was half way up the motor way with the girls.
Instead of the usual visit to the pond we went to Woodbank garden centre due to the weather. Very busy of course being a Saturday and their being Santa there but we got a table in the cafe for coffee and a mince pie whilst the girls had milk shakes. They enjoyed the displays in Santa land and afterwards we went to see Elvis the Mackaw Parrot and were amazed to find a huge tortoise called Shelley wandering around - extra. Eda is holding her doll from Madeira in the pictures, she loves it. As usual Jude isn’t really interested in hers!
Back for lunch and a quiet afternoon. Son Alex will come later for tea when hopefully Grace will also be here.
To be fair we haven’t had much Storm activity here - yet. A bit windy but we walked to the garden centre without getting wet.
Hopefully it won’t be too bad tomorrow.
