United Nations
Backblipped Saturday 7th December
Up at 8 to get ready to head out for breakfast before our booked visit to the United Nations. The rain was coming down in sheets so it was a pretty damp trip over to 2nd Avenue. We came through a grand Central station but got turned around and ended up going in the wrong direction. After a short grump we made it to the coffee shop where I enjoyed a delicious cheese and spinach omelette with a side of bacon.
We were a bit early for our tour but after getting our security badges we were able to swap on to an earlier time. The guide was great and patiently answered the many questions we had. Surprisingly we were able to take our badges away as a souvenir of our visit. So many interesting things to see including an exhibition on the flag of peace in the lobby.
Stopped off in an Irish pub called the Perfect pint en route to Macy’s but the pint was decidedly average. The toilet was interesting with a guiness barrel hooked up to drain the waste water.
Macy’s was too busy so we had a short browse before heading back towards Little Italy as there was an art shop Mr PHL wanted to visit nearby. We decided to have a late lunch/early dinner in a restaurant we’d eaten in previously. My pizza took so long to arrive that Mr PHL had finished his pasta but it did mean he could help me out as the pizza was huge!
Back to the hotel for a chill and we only ventured about 100 yards down the road to a diner around 8.30 where I had a very tasty bowl of French onion soup.
