Last day
Backblipped Saturday 7th December
A busy last morning which started with bagels from Liberty Bagels that we ate in the hotel room. Packing finished and we left the bags with the concierge so we could head down to Battery park to pick up the Staten Island Ferry. It’s a fabulous free resource.
If we hadn’t done it previously we might have been taken in by the official looking tabards worn by the oh so polite chaps who kept accosting us en route to tell us the ferry wasn’t running but there was a different ferry transport available for a small amount of money. Needless to say we ignored them.
Really enjoyed our trip there and back and got some lovely shots of the Manhattan skyline. We had a last trip to O’Haras for a final lunch before heading back to the hotel to wait for the car service we’d booked to take us to the airport. A lovely relaxed journey with a wee bit of a wait to check in but we were soon through security.
Flying with Icelandic Air was fine, comfy seats and we’d brought our own snacks although they were cheaper to purchase on board. Lesson learned. The flight took off at 7.30 and was just under 6 hours to Rekjavik.
