Needle felted bird, work in progress...
Today, one of the supervisors came to me and told me he had a project for me. An order from a customer: 6 needle felted birds, in blue, black, white and yellow. And that was it... I asked 'What kind of birds? One colour? Mixed colours?' He didn't know. And then we started a process of figuring out what the customer might have wanted, and what we should do... He told another supervisor and me, that we could 'just' make four and see what she (the customer) thought, and then make two more. What? Just? He haven't the foggiest idea that birds aren't something you just put together in 5 minutes... Then we started figuring things out, on what we would do... Then our supervisor J said to me that he'd heard what the customer wanted and it was mixed colours and fantasy birds. I was relieved! Then he added that they should look real, and my relief vanished... I saw his smile and understood that he was messing with me, thankfully! :D
So, this is the start of my first. It has all the colours asked for, and since the blue was much too blue, and the yellow much too yellow. I carded white, the blue and another blue, to get a softer colour blue, and did the same with yellow and white, to get a softer yellow. It became much better and I felt I passed the 'ugly phase' on my first bird.
I also had a laugh with one of the bosses from the 'park group' (the one who wondered where I'd been, because he hadn't seen me...) and surprised my boss with two small treats for the afternoon. Sometimes when ordering online, you get candy with the order as a Thank you. The thing is...I can't eat ordinary milk/dairy product, so anything milk chocolate covered is out of the question. Boss was happy though! :D
