Double Nativity
Plenty of nativity post box toppers on blip recently. Here’s a double take in the theme. Each one different and each one beautifully done.
Another pretty miserable, cold, wet and blustery day, especially now. The rain is streaming down on a brisk northeasterly.
We managed a short walk in a drier interlude this morning on a mission to post all the Christmas cards. Four of the tall pilar boxes were full to the brim at 1.00pm, 3 should have been collect at 9.00, one was not being collected until 5.00pm. In the end, the last box on our walk had been collected and was empty. Hurrah! After carrying those cards around for 4 miles.
We spent a very enjoyable afternoon visiting the headteacher of the school where I was head of humanities between 1983 and 1988. We hadn’t seen each other since then although we have exchanged letters and cards each year.
It was just like 40 years had not existed and we had just come back to school after the weekend. She hadn’t changed, same hairstyle, same voice and same warm person with a ready smile. That was a friendly school and where I began to learn the craft of teaching having begun my career in a grammar school.
A quick dinner when we got home then it was to our respective instruments. In Uketok we were playing Christmas songs. All good fun. Got the clarinet out today, putting on a new reed, Vaseline on the corky bits and starting to polish the keys. A note or two may have been played.
Pleased you liked yesterday’s steamy blip. There were some lovely warm comments, not to mention the odd humerus ones too. Back on the Railway next Sunday at Wittersham Road for anyone locally who wants to spend some time in a signalbox
