Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

I think we may have reached a high of 3° today. But it was glorious - NO wind, bright sunshine. A perfect winter’s day I just hope it stays like this for our Aussie visitors next week!

Archie and I walked down to the local hardware shop, perchance to get a different bulb for the light above the dining table. I also got a new pole thing for washing windows. JR went to the supermarket (no gym).

But I’d got the wrong kind of thing for the window washing… so I went back down to return it on the way to the bus for my xray.

I was there early, but the two staff members seemed pleased to see me, whipped me in - ‘Take a deep breath. Hold it. Ok, breathe!. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. Wish they could have spared 5 minutes for me a couple of weeks ago…

Elizabeth was coming to take Archie out for a bonus walk, so I went on into town. I happened into Uniqlo for a browse, and got tempted by two jumpers. Got them home, decided that I didn’t need them, but there were a couple of items JR had her eyes on. So, she went into town to return my purchases and purchase something more suitable. I’ll really need to be down at the Christmas Market when it’s dark and the lights are twinkling, but this one will have to do today.

She has been an absolute whirlwind, cooking up a storm (for freezing), making never-ending lists, going to the supermarket, looking up recipes, planning activities for the Aussies’ week, although they’ll just want to wander around the city they used to live in, and the city of the young lad’s birth.

Health note: we’re both still coughing, especially in the mornings - we sound like a couple of old life-long smokers.
