Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

COLD!

For the first time in ages - years, actually - I got up and out before JR! I insisted she stay in bed, but I wasn’t early, Archie’s very good at just waiting till someone takes him out, unlike some dogs we know who are in the habit of insisting on going out at 6am every morning!

So we went to the graveyard, which was lovely and crispy frosty glittering underfoot. I kept crawling around taking photos of the frozen grass and leaves, I’d look up, and there would be Archie, posing in vain, asking, ‘Why are you taking photos of the ground and not me?’. (Extra)

We then went to both local shops, picking up wee pressies for the Aussies’ Christmas stockings eg a can of Irn Bru for the young lad… It had to be done.

I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get to grips with the new set up in the Amazon music app. I’ve had it before, and have a few playlists eg ‘Christmas music’ and ‘Oldies’. But Amazon have changed the whole set up, and now seem to just add in random artists, songs, albums - anything else they feel like. Most annoying. However, I think I’ve found all my old, intact, playlists…

We’re off out to a concert tonight. ‘Fat Freddy’s Drop’… They’re a Kiwi band, but we couldn’t name one of their songs, and wouldn’t recognise them if we heard them on the radio…We heard them ONCE, about 20 years ago, on the car radio going over Sydney Harbour Bridge for a bbq at J’s nephew’s flat right on Dee Why beach. We bought the fresh fish from the amazing Sydney Fish market on the way. Happy times!

Archie is going to visit Pip for the evening. Probably to hide behind the sofa (as usual) when their kettle whistles…
