The entrance to the great hall Greystoke Castle
For a couple of years we have been fighting for a bus service through the village. When I first lived in the village I could get to school by bus and back at just after 4, just after 5just after 6 and just after 7. Then they stopped the Keswick bus coming through the villages so no bus.
Last night there was a meeting in the castle hall to give details of a service to be introduced possibly in March/April. The service leaves a lot to be desired but at least it is a start.
Currently the castle is leased for use as an events venue. Neville the owner moved out when his rates bill hit £19,000 per year a few years ago. The blip is taken from the entrance hall looking into main hall. The rather blue colour is owing to the plethora of Christmas lights. The gentleman standing in the centre of the shot is the current occupier. We even had a zoom connection to our MP Tim Farron who was down in London.
The castle itself can be seen here, The hall is to the left of the entrance.
