A lazy day…

…at sea. The swell is not as bad as forecast and the stabilisers are working well. We are well on our way to our first stop in Albany. One of the places we are visiting there is an old whaling station. One of the many naturalists on board gave us a talk on whaling this afternoon. Shockingly the Albany Whaling Station caught its last whale as recently as 1978. More happily the global humpback whale population has grown from about 5000 then to over 130,000 today. Other whale species populations are not recovering so well.

The internet connection is very poor. I can’t see whether my images are posting and I can’t see your images. So I will have a lot of catching up to do when I get back.
