No Trains Today
Nor for a while on this stretch of the line above Abergynolwyn. This spot is known as Forestry Crossing, where the road into the forest crosses the line. The only evidence of the railway from this viewpoint today is the damaged sign. Meg and I had already found a safe way past one blockage - extra pic - but could go no further. I could see more fallen trees across the line above me and am aware that the whole of this section is similarly effected. At Nant Gwernol, the end of the line, the footpath access to the station is also blocked.
I was in Abergynolwyn to sing with the Tuesday group - Tra Mor Singers - at an old folks Christmas lunch. They were well entertained by our mix of old Christmas songs :-)
Otherwise a gentle day of pottery glazing, cooking and small chores. Another batch of Broccoli and Stilton soup prepared after breakfast and Bolognese made for tea will both last several days. At pottery I am still mostly glazing tea light houses, fiddly work!
