Hot water

I've had the pleasure of commentating on an open water swim event at Crosby Lakeside Marina on Merseyside today.

It was a very wet start but as you can see the sun came out.

The thing that really impressed me was the delight on every swimmer as they finished.

There were 4 races, over 400m, 750m, 1500m and 3.5km.

I was quick to let the athletes know that they had the advantage of the courses being downhill!!

I gave the usual warnings of no diving, no bombing and of course no heavy petting!

As a commentator I get the best job. I get to see everything and relay it to the crowd. It's a huge privilege.

Because everyone was having such fun in the water I even had a go myself. Only a short swim then back to work.

I very easily saw the attraction.
