Woodland Wanderers

Today Merlin and I took our morning walk at Stansted, a nearby country estate. There are various public footpaths and bridleways which traverse the fields and woodland, along with some interesting information about the land management practices being used. We explored a circular route, although Merlin took me on a slight detour at the end of the walk - via the cafe in the walled garden - drawn by the smells and the hope I would stop for a sausage roll to share with him. He was disappointed but he appeared to enjoy the walk. We’ll have to back and explore more of the walking routes.

Later I received some Christmas cards in the post, including one from a friend who I met during my days in Aberdeen. It’s been an afternoon for reminiscing as I’ve also been reading a few of my old diaries - from 2001 and 2002 - there was lots of exciting change going on in my life then. I was never sure if I’d look back and read my diaries but its been interesting to read my reflections on life at that time.

Wishing you a good weekend.
