Holkham by Candlelight

This afternoon G and I went to see Holkham by Candlelight, our annual Christmas present to each other. In my collage you can see two photos of some detail from an iced xmas dining table. The third photo is of Holkham Hall in gingerbread in the kitchens, which was very large and very impressive. Holkham was also having a xmas fair, which we weren't expecting. It meant there were far more cars and people around than normal, the restaurant hardly had any seats available and getting out was by a non-standard route, in pitch darkness, with no road signs at one junction (fortunately I'd asked a guide for directions). On the plus side, we did get to look round the xmas stalls, well the ones we could get close to with all the people. This was an unplanned extra day evidently. It was all peace and quiet when we got in the Hall, with carols being played on the piano as we had our drink and mince pie included in the ticket. It was a delightful event as always, and as always was quite difficult to photograph. It also meant that conveniently I've got some photos for our U3A meeting next week with the theme of "candlelight".
