Friday
First light soon arrived and Dippy like a coiled spring bounced around in the damp grass full of joy and excitement. We kept away from the streams and headed for the woods where yesterday Vivienne took a tumble. I was on a mission to clear the brambles, leaves and any branches or twigs that could be a trip hazard. A holly tree was useful and provided me with a sweeping device, in a past life I have cleaned chimneys with a bushy holly branch and very successful it was too.
Lots of brambles were harmed in the process but I’ve probably only cleared one eighth of the route through the wood
Back for a bacon and egg sandwich before some festive preparations around Amadeus and the campsite. That completed I headed to town for a pre-arranged appointment with a costume shop, Dippy had an absolutely wonderful time in the large and fairly open shop and the results of our visit might be part of a future blip.
I popped into my future employers and organised an official visit next week to say cheerio in a more formal way than has so far been done. It’s certainly changed since February, I’ll have a more detailed viewpoint after the visit next week no doubt.
Off then to Bideford and some essential shopping and exercise in the form of lots of walking.
In the way back I stopped in Instow and sat on a bench listening to the soft sound of the waves lapping on the sand whilst watching the lights of Appledore reflecting on the water and changing as the tide varied.
Home for another serving of delicious “game hotpot” this time with some fresh crusty sourdough bread and butter.
Dippy was suitably fatigued and soon we were both in the land of nod.
Zzzzzzz
